The Purpose of Our Bodies

God put this really cool internal device in each of our bodies called hunger. When we feel it we should eat, not to the point of discomfort, just to the point of satisfaction. We should also move each day. A thirty minute brisk walk is good for the body and soul.
In our country, we seem to have a very dysfunctional, unproductive view of the amazing gift of our own body. I remember being pregnant for the first time. I had never had such appreciation for my own body. Our bodies are simply the vehicle we are using on this journey, the purpose of which is to love God through loving those around us. Period.
We should appreciate and nurture our bodies exactly as they are. Ironically, the more gratitude we feel toward our bodies, the more our body will naturally transform into its ideal state. So thank your body right now. Thank you feet for all of the pounding they take each day carrying you around. Thank you legs for holding you up and moving you where ever you want to go. Thank you torso for all of the miraculous organs it contains. Thank you arms for everything they carry for you. Thank your head for seeing, hearing, tasting and thinking. Do this silently or out loud everyday, and watch the transformation that happens inside and out.
